What's interesting to me is that I live in a small town in Texas, AND our student council raises the money for the prom and decorations. AND if they were to put money down for a venue for prom and it was canceled 2 or 3 months out, most of the money would be refunded if not all.

When my son won his School president election by a landslide, the faculty advisor decided to give it to another boy who he said ‘needed the experience in order to grow up’. That boy was his son. My son was an honor student, on varsity sports teams, was the most prolific student who volunteered for community charities, was the lead in the school theatre productions. The students were angry, but being Canada they showed their support for my son in a different way. At the graduation ceremony not one student applauded for the president, but when my son was awarded one of the big awards of the night, the entire student body jumped to their feet and gave him a long standing ovation. We live in a world now where excellence is punished. Sad really. Mt son learned how to work and achieve on his own merit…the faculty advisor’s son learned to be entitled. I wonder who will succeed at life, lol?

My best friend in high school was born and raised in in Panama. American serviceman Dad, and Panamanian mother. They knew English and Spanish fluently when they moved here, to Dad’s home town. They tried to enroll in advanced Spanish, but the teacher forbid it. In Spanish 1 they couldn’t help but laugh. Not at the kids who were trying to learn, but at teacher who’s grammar was worse that her accent. They started correcting her. She got defensive and tried to chew them out in Spanish. They fired back with their perfect accents with very rapid Spanish that she couldn’t keep up with. Our class advisors (not that teacher) suggested letting them take the finals for Spanish 1 and 2. They both got 100%, and the teacher was humiliated
