Can't imagine doing this on my 1981 built track home. The circuits are next to impossible to map. Good idea to do this on new construction.

Ben, I think your videos are terrific. Your work is remarkably logical, orderly, and professional. I have learned a lot from you. I have a follow up question on this particular video. I think it is a brilliant idea to label all the black wires in each box. It makes great sense. My concern is about putting materials in a box that are not intended for that purpose. Scotch tape, for example, is not electrical tape. Isn’t there a fire risk associated with putting a bunch of scotch tape in box that could, under bad circumstances, get hot? I know this question was asked before, but this video is a few years old. Are you still advocating this approach? Have you come up with a better one? I am thinking about building my label list in a spreadsheet and then printing them on while vinyl laser printer label stock. This feels a bit better than scotch tape. However, it still concerns me to put anything in a box other than wire, wire nuts, and electrical tape.

Thank you Ben, but doesn't the ink smear or lost its color over time? My took a year then I have to recreate a new label.

Is it OK to leave the labels in the box, I would think they would need to be taken off when connected to prevent a fire hazard. Are there any labels listed for keeping in an energized box?

It’s definitely worth it … its more of a pain troubleshooting

The adhesive doesn’t last in heat. I did this and it lasted a week before they started falling off. Don’t waste your time.
