Just to clarify, this IndieGoGo campaign still has more updates/improvements on the way. I've been told to expect an updated Heatsink that is easier to install and casing that includes the grounding contact for the SSD. As soon as I get that in I'll do more follow up videos.

For now I'm going to be uploading some updated game test videos running at 12w and naturally all diagnostic data will be present for you guys to see. Those videos will be coming in a day or so.

Mmmh I suspect the new block doesn't really touch the die and that's the reason why you need such amount of thermal paste.

Cool stuff.
I _hate_ fan noise in laptops. I always wonder with these little machines if it wouldn't be better to sink the heat to an external passive radiator. Ideally there would be a corrugated aluminum plate covering the entire back of the screen, but I'd imagine that would present quite an engineering challenge.
BTW, don't forget that water's boiling point varies with elevation and/or weather.

Requiring that amount of extra heat paste just means shit contact with the SOC. Better contact would probably see a much greater reduction in temperature without the need for so much paste.

This will be another video that says "not recommended yet" that will make me buy it. The last one is the Smach Z 8-D. So copper + nylon it is.

Forger the lowershell. Get the copper heatsink and a m.2 ribbon cable riser. I did and now I have a 1tb m.2 2280 ssd above my batter with a fujipoly pad on top of it and a piece thin piece of steel I cut to size on top of that on the outside of the case. Super easy mod only prob is the wait for the riser. Also a guy made a 3d printed part for the ssd to fit in but taking a piece of metal and cutting it yourself costs 5 bucks rather than printing 200 bucks of aluminum.

Thx for the video. Does the copper heatsink reduce the amount of noise when using 6W, 7W and 8W compared to the original heatsink?

Man that’s an awful lot of thermal paste!
It’s gonna be a pain to clean off if you want to reapply but it works.
It’ll be interesting to see if there is any performance boost in gaming at 12W.

What if you used Shadow’s cloud gaming PC service with the GPD Win 2? Seems like the ultimate use case.

Thank you for the review! in the following video pls how us the heat of the gpd 2 with stock and the coper heatsink while using an emulator (n64 or wii u know what i mean haha ) or playing some games (like skyrim and doom). its always hard to imagine "normalusage" temps for me if only a benchmark was shown off. i am really looking forward watching the next one!

My second attempt at a GPD Win 2 arrives tomorrow. Let's hope this one speaks English.

The installation demo which the creator did seems easy enough was once that I tried to replace my Switch Joy-con shells and it was much more complicated with wires n'

have you tried to ask him about trying graphine heat sink and or copper and silver infused graphine (heat sink[s]) probably combo heat sinks could be better than single types...?? for cooling.

Is there a way to change the fan profiles so that the copper heatsink temperatures don't change compared to stock, because the fan doesn't speed up as much?
