I still remember the hours I put in to get this piece ready for my recital years ago. One of my favorite Bach pieces

The way Bach transitioned from E minor to D minor in measure 14 is so clever; he kept it in E but he diminished the fifth (B-flat instead of B) and the he connected what seemed to be a diminished E chord to a C-sharp, making it a C-sharp diminished 7 chord, the seventh chord in D minor; furthermore he followed all of this with an A, making it seem like a major 5-7 chord of D minor (with a flat 9) which is perfect to transition to D minor. It would have taken me weeks if not months to think up something like that on my own (I do compose by the way).
TL;DR Bach’s interesting chord progressions in his pieces really inspire me.

play lots of hands separate. play lots of hands together. play at slow, medium, and fast tempos. it will come together

edit: also just hearing the left hand or just the right hand is fun to listen to too. sorta dissecting the music. it also seems to train each hand to be more autonomous if that makes sense

edit edit: metronome is also the single best thing you can do to improve your playing with any instrument. especially with bach. don't always use a metronome though. you still wanna sound like a human playing music

That transition in measure 17 is so slick.

My favourite of this set, and it's really difficult to play correctly, as it puts excessive demands on the weakest fingers of both hands

I watched/listened to 50 YouTube vidoes of Invention 13 and this is the first one that gets the tempo right. Thanks

Learned this years ago. Won me a competition I think. Played it faster than this but I think it’s great.

My piano teacher has me learning Invention 11 and that's challenging enough, this song is insane.

One of my favourite, if only for the reason that initially I had to play it slowly. I found some of the fingering is challenging. However, by playing at a much slower tempo nothing of the musicality is lost. In fact it is easier to appreciate the subtle changes form dissonance to harmonic resolution at a lower tempo.

Very beautiful piece. This is the normal tempo, i mean, the tempo we are used to. But played slower it reveals something very moving, and not dynamic anymore which is quite interesting, too.

I love this play, in this versión it's sounds very good the piano, fits its style.
Also, I find it very fun to play it. It's sounds sort of gothic, doesn't it?
