Lily the Bear's Incredible Transformation

For almost a decade, Lily was kept inside a tiny filthy cage at Deer Haven Mini Zoo in Maryland. She lived amid her own waste, couldn't hibernate, and had none of the things available to her that are natural and important to bears. She was also morbidly obese, likely from being denied the opportunity to exercise.
Lily arrived at The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado, in 2016, after much public support to rescue her from her imprisonment. She was the most obese bear ever seen by both sanctuary staff and her veterinarian. But after acclimating to her new habitat, starting on a healthy diet, and getting the opportunity to hibernate, she has healed and lost at least 200 pounds!

PETA's mission statement is that animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way:

It always amazes me, how people just walk by as if its normal to keep a bear like that. They are as bad as the owners.

Who would even go to a zoo like this? Who wants to see a prison for bears? Too look at these creatures and then just walk over to stare at the next creature... like a zombie. What is that?
