Sorry Charlie, you're ascribing the wrong story line to the wrong political group. Fascism IS more closely related to modern day conservatism than it is to the Democratic Party and liberalism. Actually people in the mainstream "Conservative" movement in the US today are known as "NEO-CONSERVATIVES". Fascism is greatly defined by the economy and society being run by the Federal Government, its' economic system is known as "State Capitalism". Look up the terms. It is a form of National Marxism.
