Do you know if studies have established that lactic acid creams don't cause damage to the skin which might only be apparent after cessation? I am interested in trying it out, but I have learned you rarely get benefits without paying the piper. Is there data on the long term effects?

Amlactin is only a brand commonly sold in drug stores. Another brand that is frequently recommended by physicians is Perrigo. I've tried both. I prefer Perrigo as it is less runny than Amlactin. Haven't tried Major brand.

Don’t forget your sunscreen. Ammonium lactate is an AHA which will make your skin more sensitive to the sun and burning. You may also choose to wear protective clothing. I opt for SPF, no extra clothing, in the heat.
