I just ordered the Naturium same percent retinaldehyde as the Avene. I love Avene and I get what she's saying about spending our skincare budget mainly on a serum but $79 is insane even with 20% off. I really really hope she reviews the Naturium one as it's way more of a budget pick than the Avene.

With all the recommended products, I’m overwhelmed. When do I use what? Is there a video explaining how to mix and match and when to apply; the order, frequency, etc.?

I've been using the Neutrogena. 3% as recommended in a previous video and getting great results. However, I wanted to try the Olay Max and it was on sale with additional coupons - I really thought you recommended it before. If it doesn't get results, I'll stick to Neutrogena. I used Avene years ago and it wasn't nearly as expensive as it is now, even adjusting for inflation. The other products aren't as bad but still costly, so I always get it at the pharmacy where I get my prescriptions because I get a lot of reward points and coupons. Timing that with a sale can even bring it down to half price!

I just HATE pump packaging. I know it's more protective but it's wasteful. It's impossibile to open most of the time and therefore you waste a surprising amount of product. Some brands at least use the kind that unscrews but it takes a lot of work to get the last bit out. That's another reason why I like Neutrogena - most things are in good old fashioned jars.

The other thing about retinyl palmitates or retinyl esters (and they have a lot of names like granactive) is that some derms don't consider them retinoids at all but rather antioxidants.

Thank you! I've been using Avene for a long time based on your suggestions ❤ could you do a dark spot video?

Strangely, my post menopausal skin freaks out over most OTC retinoids, AHAs, BHAS, etc. But it loves differin.

Thank you for updating your older video in which you recommended CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum, Neutrogena RWR as well as Olay—you mentioned you liked that it had two forms of retinol. Unfortunately Avene is difficult to find in my area. I’m sticking with Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair!

Another very informative video! I’m very happy with my Avene products that you recommended. Would you do an updated video for dark spot correction? Thank you very much for making these videos.

I have seen the differences on my face and my wife's after we take Dr Locke advice from her YouTube channel. Dr Locke put out simple steos to understand skincare regimes. Thanks Dr. Budget Dermatologist.
But if cost is no object for you buy La Prairie or Le Mer skicare products. The best of skincare.

Fabulous straight forward content doc, and great pdf!!! Love how you break it down for everyone so we're not duped by the
"beauty "manufacturers into spending money hand over fists that we don't have in the first place, for only placebo like effectiveness.
I'd rather follow your professional advice, spend the extra money on a DOCTOR recommended product and get some REAL results, not "pie-crust promises " from the usual players on the beauty shelves in a Wal-Mart 😂😂
THANKS for keeping it real ❤

Good video Dr. Locke. I was wondering if you could recommend a moisturizer for dry mature skin that would have good ingredients in it and leave your skin feeling supple. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

I used OTC retinol for a couple of years before starting tretinoin from Curology, then from Agency. I save money because my OTC retinoid wasn't cheap and I was buying separate niacinamide and other serums to boost the effectiveness. My tretinoin formula contain.07 tretinoin, 5% azelaic acid, 5% tranexamic acid and 4% niacinamide. I do understand why you recommend the Avene product. It looks superior to the others.

Avene's products in Canada have different names and it's difficult to figure out which is which, if they're even sold here. I use Retin-A Micro (Rx).

I use Avene Retinaldehyde now that I can afford it. 😊 Sign up & the sales are quite frequent starting at 20% off.

I was just about to say I can't stand fragrance in my skincare. I love fragrance in general but not in there, and you just mentioned about fragrance lol. I got a Neutragena one that had fragrance and threw it out.
