These Cursed Images Explained

In 2015, the Internet was gifted a new genre of imagery when a Tumblr blog called Cursed Images was created. In this video, I explain the backstory behind some of the more well-known cursed images that have circulated the internet.

11:59 this family photo has a backstory already, there was a video from inside edition about it interviewing the family but it got removed, to summarize the family hired a photographer to take this photo and the family requested the photographer to edit the photo and remove the shadows so their faces are more visible, the photographer took it too literally and removed the shadows and now it looks cursed, the family in the interview just laughed when they saw the photos and said they look like legos

Cursed images are an underrated artform. A lot of them are unintentional and candid, but the ones that aren't are a good exercise in creativity and photography skills.

seeing barney out of context is always a cursed experience tbh, that's probably why there's so many barney cursed images. if you take away the friendly personality and happy vibe of the show, the character design itself is actually pretty damn creepy.

Does anyone else think it’s a tad creepy that the guy who posted the Barney image never gave an update on Reddit and deleted his account after Scaretheater tried to contact him? Probably just doesn’t wanna be disturbed but it came off as a bit odd to me

It was an 1870's Italianate Mansion
Our rent was cheap because the rental agreement stated that the landlords were not responsible for making any repairs, meaning we had to do them ourselves. (but we were not obligated to)

You know what my favorite cursed image is? The one with the guy in a Mickey Mouse costume in the sewer. God, I'd kill to know the lore of that thing.

The Barney costume, I think the "eyes" are actually meant to be nostrils. I could be wrong, but they're more in the position to be nostrils than eyes. Barney's head is slightly tilted back so the eyes probably aren't visible.

The furry story is, well so dang wholesome. Just friends hanging out. Not into the scene myself but I do think they get a bad rap. I've always been of a mind of you do you I'll be me and we can be weird together in our own ways. Keep bringing the weird and odd Scare Theater!

It literally looks like someone accidentally stumbled upon them took the photo, yet the actual truth is that the furries in it were the jokers all along and intentionally made this image for laughs!

The furry interview was actually really interesting. And the old house itself is really interesting as well. I actually wanna see a house tour just because of how old and creepy that house looks.

What were the odds for two different popular cursed images to have been taken in the same location

For those curious what she was trying to explain on the "the portal is opening" photo. This happens when the shutter of the camera exceeds the sync speed of the flash. Most of the time the out of sync area will be pure black but in this case the SS was barely faster and worked out quite well in making a cool image.
