The new BMW R1300 GSA is here so we decided to compare it to the standard R1300 GS.

The standard GS was equipped with the ASA gearbox which was also fantastic to compare between the models.

I bought the GSA with ASA and love it. My 5th GSA and I’m all about comfort. I can ride in manual if I want to be a bit more dynamic but to be honest it’s matched well with the different drive modes in the automatic mode. Try both and I’m sure you’ll agree the ASA is not a compromise in any respect.

Absolutely brilliant comparison guys. I will be px’ing my GS1300 for a GSA when the three year warranty expires. Brilliant bikes the pair .

this is a really great idea. Live conversation back and forth discussing the two different bikes. Loved it! Thanks

Complex heavy expensive SUVs are not my thing.
I like the reviews, the German engineers are brilliant and it’s good to hear about the tech. Im only mid 50s so not old enough for these yet, still fun over comfort for me.

Wouldn't want one, couldn't afford one if I did like it but always love your comparison vids👍

I love Greg’s response… “no it’s shite!”

I have a lot motorcycles, been riding 30 years. One thing I've really started to dislike though are heavy bikes. I tried a Tenere 700 and even that bike was too much. Currently my limit seems to be around 425 lbs, with the sweet spot being around 350ish. I think my KTM 690 is the perfect power and weight.

Tremendous review. BMW's previous GSA iterations, were all about bulk and presence, but your collective review on the new GSA proves what a great all-round and competent quality riding machine this really is. Worth every penny (and no need to use a tinted visor😂). Thanks again to you both, for the great insight and entertainment.

The GSA IMO looks like a shoebox with a head lamp stuck on . Having said that from your comments both have a lot going for them . Time will tell, as will sales . Great video guys as always enjoyed the ride along 👍.

Adventure bikes like this have got so complex and expensive damage if dropped when going off road (which is their supposed purpose) that they've moved away from their original concept. Much like the new Land Rover Mr Grumpy was driving!

The Africa twin DCT (mode 2 that is) is great, in fact I really don’t want to go back anymore. When you’re touring abroad in a big town it’s one less thing to think about.
Off road is just great. Can concentrate more on the fun !
Funny thing bikes with big tanks. I’ve got the Honda ATAS and going to bikes with smaller tanks feels odd. A big tank bike feels like your riding something substantial and with road presence.

loved the 1300 GSA from day 1. It now makes the 1250 GSA and the standard 1300 GS look dated. I would have gone for the 1250 over the 1300 GS before the GSA came out. "Your auto gearbox awaits" 😂😂😂😂.
Great video. Been waiting to see these bikes together on a review. Has to be the GSA! I currently have a Suzuki GSX-S1000 and Rocket 3 GT 221 and wanting to move to one bike. This has made my mind up. 👍👍

I would never buy the adv model, in my view and perspective the GS 1300 has finally matured to perfection. Why? Well because it’s finally compact enough and lightweight, also because it’s now more sporty and very cool looking. ADV model at least looks vise takes it all away with the rugged boxy look. I am not saying it is worse than regular GS performance vise… But the boxy overgrown look Shirley makes it more cumbersome and harder to handle again. For average riders like me, 179cm 31/5 inch inseam regular GS is finally perfect and Trophy version of it is exactly what I will be buying 😊

Videos of the 1300 GS came out about a year ago. I took one look at it, then went out and purchased a 2023 1250 GS. Couldn’t be happier. When I saw (drop jaw) the 1300 GSA, I knew, no doubt that I was right all along, for me. As always top shelf video, well done chaps.

Enjoy these reviews with the pair of you, both opinions are fair I’d say.

I waited until the standard 1300 came out before I decided on my ATAS, the GSA I agree is less offensive looking than the standard GS, and it is becoming less offensive overtime. As a ‘thing’ to ride and own, I guess time will tell. The ATAS is a well proven platform. And, selling better now than ever before. I think you need a big group test with the top 4 big adventure bikes… I’m happy to help if you need an extra rider!! Awesome job though gents. 👍👍

I had an 1150 GS back in ‘03. Great bike for mile munching, used it for travelling between London and Ireland. It must have been a a Monday bike after the beer hall cos it kept on breaking down. But now I have a V85 2024 model, which so far is really good. My nearest dealer is 100 miles away in Dublin, but I can get all my parts from Germany, which is cheaper. I’m not sure about this new automatic gearbox trend. It’s great until a sensor goes wrong. But it’s up to people what they want to buy. Their money, their choice. Good video. Keep up the good work.

You and Gregorio looking good which is more than can be said for the bikes. I have as little interest in these 2 wheel SUVs as their 4 wheel x6 equivalents.
