Car thefts are on the rise across Memphis, and certain Hyundai and Kia vehicles have been a major target for thieves, specifically models without what’s called an “engine immobilizer.”

The car makers are offering free, anti-theft repair, but NewsChannel 3 uncovered numbers showing millions of owners have yet to take advantage of the free fix.

Report on the engines. And they wont fix em. I had 3 engines in 1 yr. My car is sitting because I cant afford the 4th. 8000 dollars and I still have to pay car note and insurance and lost job. Worst company Ive ever dealt with.

Las Vegas Nv Somebody tried to get my car last night They broke the back right passenger window broke the ignition area but failed take the car Ransacked the glove compartment and left over a $100 worth of Walmart stuff in back seat Smh If you came through the back seat you should have seen those items The Police said it was likely Kids So I'm thankful my deductible is only $100 buck Sad part is Hyundai sent me the paper to go get the updated software and I haven't yet . Hell they didn't get the car tho I feel so violated Now I'm getting camera to record a steering wheel lock and the software updated Hyundai and Kia Suck Do Not Buy!
