The last 15 months of the pandemic hasn’t been easy on anyone. Psychologists say having to navigate life under lockdown, working remotely, managing kids and losing access to many coping mechanisms has taken a toll, especially on couples. A national study by Finder Canada, updated in March, shows about 15 per cent of Canadians either broke up or divorced since the start of the pandemic. Global’s Sharmeen Somani reports.

Pandemic really showed how genuine people were in a relationship at all. Some were just fake.

Without context and comparison, why should I believe that this is anything but normal

Because they were together for the wrong reasons. Like most people they union for money, food, shelter, no way nobody really loves each other.

I remember at the start of covid me and my gf laughed at all the couples that were breaking up. By June we were done too haha.

Money issues are the most common issue of fights between couples.

But, right now people are use to not seeing each other 24hrs every day... They like that time away to go to work and engage with others. It's healthy and normal.

This causes a stress and who is to get the backlash of it, your partner.

And in the case of my friend, the pandemic showed her husband had been emotionally abusive to her for a number of years. Her eyes are open, she's empowered, and no longer fears being alone.

This pandemic showed that Canada does not know how to cope with a crisis. I left Canada to Europe 2 weeks ago, things are back to normal.

I wonder how many broke up because one of the partners said a long overdue family dinner was “Non essential”.

My grandmother and my grandfather they went through war and many pandemics on their relationship, still together at 85 years old 🧓, the problem is that we did not taste obstacles before, so in our minds we are weak.

Because they don't have as good as me and my partner have. 10 years of being together. Bought a house and Zero Zero Zero arguments or fights since we met. If you even have but one fight or argument you should really reconsider that relationship. Fights and argument are not normal its a sign that the relationship is not ment to be. Smart up everyone.
