My grandmother made hers by boiling vanilla custard I think and baking it in the oven. She used fluffed sweetened egg whites on top. It takes a while to make this way.

I always wanted to try this banana pudding. It all started with me watching Elvis Presley's home chef at the time, talk about his love for her banana pudding. Where I live you do not see alot of banana pudding at restaurants or dessert cafe's. Looks so good!

I do mines like my grandma showed me. I make custard over the stove the old fashion way. Never heard of using pudding mix..until 1999.The hospital I work in served it every other wk ..I didn't care for it..And I still pass on it right to this day 😊...

I just made my banana pudding version at home coz I craved for Magnolias and since there’s no way for me to get it, I had to make my own. The only similar ingredients are condensed milk and fresh bananas. Hehehe... it’s still tasty😋 Thanks for the idea Magnolia! I miss eating that Banana pudding of yours 😩

There use to be Magnolia bakery in Union Station, DC but it closed a few years ago. I used to enjoy the red velvet cake.

They kind of give the recipe but it is really easy. One pack of instant vanilla pudding/custard, one can of condensed milk, 2 cups of water mixed together and refrigerate until cold. It make take 2 hours to be really cold. The pudding is ready whip up a pint of heavy cream/double cream and fold that though the pudding. Then layer the trifle dish with pudding, banana and nilla wafers. If you can't get nilla wafers, sliced cake will work. If you don't like banana's that fine use whatever fruit you like. If you want you can change the flavor of the pudding to whatever you want as well. Don't switch out the condensed milk and water for regular milk, cause the pudding isn't all the sweet.
