Last year, I traded in my '19 4x4 Tacoma for a JLU Wrangler for that exact reason, roominess or lack thereof. I had the Tacoma for about a year and realized that I missed the Wrangler driving experience and "feel". I had previously traded in a '15 Rubicon for the '19 Tacoma. Also, I wasn't loving the Tacoma's lack of an auto headlight feature. I had to manually turn on my headlights at night and that drove me nuts. You would think all vehicles costing over $45k purchased in 2019 would have the auto headlight feature.

There are many ways gladiator is "superior" imo. I like the solid front axle and the ability to "get naked" as well as the selection of bolt-on mods. I think the taco is probably a better work truck but nothing beats jeep for a fun enthusiast vehicle.

One of main reasons I like Jeeps, is the headroom and easier to get in and out of being 6 foot three as you know Rob, heck even my Rebel doesn’t have much me as I can only stick three fingers between my head and the roof, maybe it’s the way I have the seat set, I do like to sit high as possible😂!!

Jeep does feel a lot roomier than the Tacoma did. Wife maintains the front passenger seat is more comfortable than the Tacoma’s. The Jeep’s motor seems a lot peppier than the Tacoma’s (could be the extra gears in the transmission). I like the looks of the Jeep better.

The gladiator is much better as far as cab room and overall ride comfort. The only advantage taco had was a slightly bigger cargo bed. The reason I say “had” is because the Tacoma is having issues with their transmissions, and build quality has slacked. Probably because of the whole pandemic deal, and getting parts from Japan..
RIP Tacoma, looks like the JT’s are more popular now because of lack of supply planning by the other brands.

This is my personal struggle right now Rob. I am looking to get one more manual transmission truck before they are all gone and these two are it. My brain says buy the Tacoma. My heart says buy the Gladiator. I am fine with everything about the Tacoma….except its limited interior space and low roof height. It’s a truck I’ll never convince my family to go on a road trip in. However, considering these are the last of their kind, I need it to last a long time. Odds are the Tacoma will live longer, but you cannot deny the cool factor of the Gladiator, and it having a bit more room and being more comfortable, and therefore likely to get driven more.

You're kind of comparing apples to oranges. The Tacoma could be roomier like the Gladiator, but it would change its shape and looks. No offense, but a Tacoma with a tall, box shaped cab like the Gladiator would kill its looks.
