When I was a kid I so badly wanted my cat to sit on my lap and when I stopped forcing him and kind of acted like I didn't care whether he came or went he would stay. Has to be on their terms and definitely not forced which isn't that all of us

Yes! Respect! Always ask yourself "how would I like it if someone just walked up and did that to me without my permission?" Teach other people to ask the same thing of themselves. Always respect all animals.

My older cat calls for me to pet her, when she’s ready… which is not very often. Meanwhile my youngest, like clockwork, EVERY MORNING, expects me to hold her and cuddle with them while I make and eat my breakfast. 😂 It’s like having one independent child and one very needy child. Hahaha! ❤

SO TRUE! When I moved in with my boyfriend his cat would never let me pick her up and hold. Over time though I would be able to hold a little longer ONLY BECAUSE I respected her boundary and every time she squirmed a bit i lowered back to the ground gently ... EVERY TIME now-a-days she'll fall asleep in my arms sometimes

I'm a vet and i keep telling my family that .. they don't care they come right up to him and pet him or lift him .. he doesn't like it.. he always comes to you when he wants

You really understand cats and understand that living animals aren't stuffed toys, also dogs, rabbits a.s.o. We have to respect their boundaries like we want it from other people!

When my cats were kittens. I respected their boundaries and showered them with love, affection & treats.I very slowly pushed their boundaries whilst gaining their trust and respecting their limits. Slowly but surely, I now have two cats that I can touch anywhere and even blow raspberries on their tummies when they are so inclined to tolerate me. Sometimes they really like it. But I listen to their cues because sometimes unwanted touching is just that! Just like us.

I have two playful, loving kitties, the purrfect duo. They even nap with my 4 and 5 year old children and enjoy sitting on our shoulders. :) Love them.

You are so gentle and kind. I've seen you earn the trust of traumatized, terrified and abuse cats. They become loving and trusting. Listening to a cats boundaries really works. I have been doing that sense I found my cat as a baby and now she is the sweetest cat I have ever seen. She had never really had to bight me because she knows that if she dosent like something I won’t force her.
