Wrestling Bios Presents - The Story of The Brood in WWF

In 1998, after Edge, Gangrel and Christian made their WWF debuts, the trio would form The Brood stable, a group of guys who, as commentatirs put it, "lived a gothic lifestyle". We all know what the group was really supposed to be... Vampires. Somehow, this new stable in the WWE back in 1998 somehow actually worked in the WWF Attitude Era.

Edge had no real purpose or gimmick when he made his debut in 1998, being told his character is that of a mysterious loner. David Heath had already worked as The Vampire Warrior, a gimmick both he and his wife Luna Vachon had worked on and, even before this, had a wealth of wrestling experience. Christian would make his WWF debut during a match pitting Edge against Gangrel, and form here The Brood storyline started.

In this mini documentary from Wrestling Bios, we look at how Edge, Christian and Gangrel made their way to the WWE, Gangrel's work as a Blackheart and his first run in WWF as jobber as The Black Phantom, The Brood debut in the WWE, The Brood's entrance and theme music and a secret hidden message contained in the song, The Brood joining The Ministry of Darkness, The formation of The New Brood featuring The Hardy Boyz, and life after The Brood for all the original members.

Gangrel and The Brood was a faction that ended way, way too soon.

Every shoot interview that talk about Gangrel always say the same thing about him: one of the kindest men you'll ever met, he must have been loved and respected backstage back in the day, no doubt Edge and Christian learned a lot from him and would definitely give him credit for their success among other things. Definitely The Brood is still remembered to this day.

Gangrel's in-ring ability was phenomenal. Him & Gold dust just flowed in the ring when they wrestled. This is their craft & they were damn good at it.

Even if Gangrel wasn't as popular as the members in his group he will always be a legend in my book.

in every WWF game when I created a character, I would use Jerico's stance with the back turned and arms out, and this was always my theme music. I loved the Brood's music.

You forgot to mention Gangrel's brief return to WWE on Smackdown during JBL's feud with The Undertaker in 2004.

It’s not the “Brood” entrance! It’s the “Gangrel” entrance! He used it before and after the brood

I loved the group. And That Brood beat was the best in-ring intro. Loved it.
