I am a recent college grad with a full time job and never got a credit card during my student years. my campus job didn't have the income needed to really build credit. i have been doing a little research so i can build credit, especially now since I still live with my parents and have a bit of a cushion. This was really informative.

Made mistake early on of choosing a credit union card MasterCard. Rates were terrible and somehow when applying I unwittingly said yes to some type of life insurance. took me several months to get it canceled and never did get the credit for the first two months. Don't get me started on the bonus program or point system which can yield you crap from the store they have. I just received an umbrella worth 6, 000 points or $6, 000 of spending that seems to be made out of toilet paper. My two main cards are Discover and Chase freedom.
