Fun fact,

those distant SMG sounds you hear aren’t part of the ambience, but are programmed to fire by a couple of invisible npcs.

If you go noclip to the outskirts of the map you can actually see them firing at each other, bullets and all.

Ahhh man 0:52 that distant gunship scream gives me the chills every time. Out of the many games I've played, Half life 2 has one of the most unique sound designs which I always come back to for pure asmr. For me, sound design is one of the most key things that makes a game amazing! Thanks for the upload!

Each game ambience tells a story. Hl2's was total war. This one sounds like lots of Combine gunning down survivors and vehicles trying to escape.

Think about it city 17 is destroyed and there are probably only a handful of resistance members fighting the gun fire have calmed down so many lives are dead or else no the combine are isolated unites with no one to give orders
