5:20 Now imagine that the cinematic part ends and Freeman suddenly starts bhopping through the complex.

The fact that Gordon kinda saunters around and presses his luck by exploring every nook and cranny along his route really captures an almost nostalgic sense of gamer curiosity that I had when playing this back in the day. I love the detail of Gordon noticing all the little features that we all remember.

That ending with Gordon just collapsing out of pure shock and panic is absolutely chilling, especially with him breathing like if he's in denial of what's happening around him

"WHY do we all have to wear these ridiculous ties?"

Best quote from the original game

dude, the "awww man, you cut the ponytail...sellout" makes this just feel so real. like, im imagening he dared gordon to rock it for a week, but gordon dipped out half way through, also the changing from his voice to the intercom seamlessly is a nice touch

I'm just lost for words of how beautiful this is, the amount of work and effort you worked in the first episode is just pure love. Your channel deserves better, such underrated content 😤

I love how Gordon is half an hour late for one of the most important experiments in the beginning of his career, and he's just strolling around the facility, slowly making his way to the test chamber, but not without checking every single corner of the lab first

Probably what makes this aoustanding is the camera angles, usually what happends with this kind of works is that the angles get boring pretty fast and you lose interest really quickly, but here he tries his best to put a good shoot everytime to avoid this effect. Plus the visuals itself are already good, without those angles it wouldnt be the same. Amazing work honestly.

I'm surprised no big streaming platform has yet to make a Half-Life live-action or anime series. Perfect mix of foreboding atmosphere, action, and horror.

I wish I could go to work effortlessly not having to respond to any coworkers attempts at engaging me like how Gordan refuses to respond to any of his coworkers whilst instead just gives subtle gestures and an occasional thumbs up. A true inspiration I must say In the art of non-communication tactics/small talk avoidance.

The part with the microwave wow. Only true fans of hl would understand how the creators really put attention to detalis in this art 7:10

We dont need a movie studio to make amazing adaptations of games, we just need highly skilled fans of a series, who are willing to provide the community with great animations/films. Hell, i would pay for a movie made by great fans to go watcg in the cinemas

The attention to the GAME DETAIL when Gordon pushes the specimen, and it bounces a few feet in each time you "push" it. Top Tier

The mood of the game is present, and Gordon being a sociopath is quite inline with the narrative of the series to my mind. You can't make him social and not ruin the atmosphere coming from the actual game. Love what you do, man. Keep it up please

NOO, COME ON, MAN! You can't end it there! Damn, and my heart was pumping, too!

Let me tell you something, as the biggest Gordon Freeman simp there is, seeing a full length animation with the official model brings me insurmountable joy. His mannerisms and facial expressions in the tram were such a pleasure to watch. They seemed so natural; excellent animation indeed.

I see your Gordon is very nonchalant and serious. I can respect that, even if it's not the way I personally visualise him. It will come in handy with his prodigious combat skills once he needs to face hell.

I do like that from early on (4:06) Gordon is noticing that some things are off. That, coupled with the other incidents where people mention things malfunctioning, by the way he warily observes you can tell he's thinking things are off. When he sees Gman the second time, I imagine he must've been weirded out. He was going in the opposite direction as him in the tram after all, so how could he have gotten there first? Also, Gordon's a real psychopath for not helping the scientist in need. He needed some toilet paper, man! Now he's going to die in the most humiliating way possible. I'm kidding, of course.

The resonance cascade scene was nuts. I love that brief glimpse of Gman and how in the split second Gordon looked away from the sample, everything went to shit and the moment he looks forward again, he's sent back from the explosion. The spectrometer alarm that Crowbar Collective uses is fucking amazing, so hearing it always gives me chills. I always thought Joel Nielsen absolutely outdid himself with that sound design. I fucking love that, even though we can't see his face, we finally see some sort of emotion from Gordon. Slumping to his knees, bringing his hands to his head, in complete disbelief of the situation and/or perhaps in attempts to drown out the noise that is an explicit reminder of what the Anomalous Materials team has just done. There's so much happening here, I love it. He must feel responsible for this disaster, even though it wasn't his fault at all. A lot of people believe that Gordon is at fault for the resonance cascade even though all he did was push the sample. I've always rejected this notion.

Finally, I love that even in midst of this disaster, Gordon's first reaction to seeing the protozoan is to touch it. It's endearing and I'm pretty sure most people would do that too, lol.

You did an excellent job with the atmosphere. Whilst it's true that some things could be improved upon, such as the walking or some of the lip sync animations, or minor spelling mistakes (2:58), I have nothing but praise for you :) I have always adored the atmosphere in your videos, you have an excellent way with it and I've always thought you excel with dark, horror-like ambiances because your use of lighting is always great for it, so now that the following chapters will be so dark, I can't wait to see what you'll do with them. I'm excited for the next video and so happy that this is out. This comment was long because it's my opinion that good effort is deserving of comments that have a bit of thought/effort put into them, highlighting what the person did right, but I understand some creators may not see it this way. If it's too tedious to read long comments, just let me know and I'll tone it down! In any case, I felt this video absolutely deserved a long comment, so yeah. Excellent job!

I have no words for this short movie but I love how Gordon’s haircut is cleaned up and “rushed” because he overslept and had no time to prepare.

Now I wonder… how does he look like with a ponytail?

This is an S-tier animation. The scenes are superb, and the choreography is very well made, there are also so many little details in this video, that it's easier to say what is not included in this video. The only two things that I think could be improved on are the walking animations and the personality of Gordon (he looks like a sociopath until the test chamber where he shows some actual emotions). Overall this is a great video, thumbs up to you sir, for doing it all on your own

Brilliant!, Brilliant!, Brilliant!, I've been a hardcore Half life and Half Life 2 lover from the late 90's after quake and Doom. But this wow, loved how you changed the characters the are well pieced together. Respect for your work.

The direction is very good. You put as much effort into sound as you do in visuals. Like how you have that Chernobyl style ambient music playing while the anti mass spectrometer starts going and how the sound p.o.v. cycles between muffled and clear pending on focus. This deserves to blow up even more, you really capture the survival horror side of Half-Life 1 in your other stuff too.
