Ok. So, you quote increase stats...but compared to what. A week ago, a month ago...yesterday?
As an example, if a State had 1 death yesterday and 3 today that a 200% increase ( I will not discuss the rules of math being bent here). So, a 19 % increase in deaths. If the moving average were 5 deaths per day and it went to 6 then that would be a 20% increase...one more person.

Here's a gift for you. Look up your States online resource for covid data...each State has one. Then compare the spike when this all started to the Christmas spike and then now. The first spike led to many hospitalizations and a large daily death toll. The second spike had about 4 times the cases but about 1/4 the hospitalizations and about 1/6 the deaths...more contagious but far less lethal. This spike sees hospitalizations even lower and deaths exceedingly low. But this is based on complete data and not some random selection of numbers.

Reporters need to be at least mathematically literate before they start a conversation they cannot understand. This does not serve the public.

Funny numbers... I work for a Juvenile Detention Center where we've had about 3 positive covid cases per day since the pandemic started.. yet 0 hospitalizations, 0 deaths. 🤔🤔 Could it have something to do with the fact that the State is responsible for these kids so they don't adjust the numbers for this population in order to make matters seem scarier than they really are? When our kids get "covid" we just stick them in an isolation room for 10 days whether they have symptoms or not & they always come out just fine.
