My personal guess, I believe that God gives him the strength to sing it so that others in the same situation know that they're not alone.

As a mother who lost her son this really touched my heart, it's been over 35 years since he died but I will never get over the loss.

He has said that he walked off that stage and Ricky Skaggs was telling what a good song it was. Craig told him that he was glad he had heard it because he wouldn't sing it again. Ricky told him he HAD to sing it...people NEEDED to hear it. Blake Shelton campaigned to get it to the top of the Billboard charts.

My son died March 6, 2020. I struggle to ust get through some days. He was 20 years old. His name is Hunter. This song and Toby Mac's song about his son both are beautiful.

Another good one written after the loss of his brother is “go rest high on that mountain” by Vince Gill…The official video is really good.

Singing from his soul....it is, without a doubt, the most powerful song I've heard in years. He says, that many times, he simply doesn't have the emotional strength he needs to sing it. God bless Craig Morgan and his family 🙏❤

I lost my only child, my beautiful son nine years ago and I can say I never get through this song without crying. The pain is unimaginable(still after 9 years) and no, a child should never die before their parents. God Bless this man for his unbelievable performance. I am a new subscriber and have been binge watching your video's for a couple of days. Thank you, you are a breath of fresh air and I truly love how much respect you show for our country, America! Your reactions are awesome.

This songs tears me up every time I hear it. I thought I had known pain in my life, but the day my son died... oooh boy. Nothing prepares you for that loss. After awhile, comes some peace, knowing I'll see my boy again when I "go home" 💜

I’ve lost my father and my son and let me tell you God and the Holy Spirit are the only reason I’m here today.
I know someday I will be home with them.
Such a beautiful, sad, amazing song and real life story. God bless 🙏🏼✨

Craig served in the US Army and served as a Forward Observer. He’s got a great catalog of songs. His song “Paradise” is an ode to his service. Fun fact, when I graduated from the US Army Infantry school in March 2001, our Cadre played “Paradise”.

Craig is a great singer. Another song by him you might like to take a listen to is That ain't Nothing.

His intent was to only sing this once that night. But his long time friend Blake Shelton (who lost his brother) convinced him to keep singing it I help others. A very powerful song

My youngest son Mark Levi passed on December 18, 2018. He was 19 years old. This was a beautiful song and performance. I feel every bit of his pain and brokenness. You are right sir, it is the worst thing a parent has to endure. Blessings to you for reacting to this song.

I had never heard this and it absolutely had me in tears. As an American I’m a little embarrassed I was introduced to this song by a Scot. Thank you.

That was the first time he sang it in front of an audience. As he was leaving the stage he was greeted by a friend and Craig told him he would never sing that song again. His friend told him he had to because so many people need to hear it. I also suggest watching the video, that is powerful because you can see the pain on his face.
