My Dad used to sing this song at various gatherings. He had a great tenor voice which at the time I did not appreciate.  I am now a Grand Dad and I think of Dad and I love this version.  Many thanks for putting it on YouTube.

My Grandfather used to sing this while shaving in the morning. With a straight razor. I wouldn't try that if you paid me,

The Nuns down in St. Mary's, Haddington Road, Dublin, taught us this song when we were in the low babies back in 1945(Things were scarce then back in the war years} However, we never missed anything but we had nothing to begin with. God be with the days,

How I love this song. I've been trying to recall the song my dad used to sing. I played an old record my parents left behind, and, sure enough, I found it on the flip side of "Danny Boy." Talk about synchronicity. Thank you for this wonderful memory.

I was in the Irish Air Corps back in the late Fifties and Early Sixties(The Congo in 1960) Paddy Reilly worked in the Canteen then. He's come a long way. He's got a great voice. I'm retired and living in Boston, Massachusetts, now.

My lovely Aunt died two months ago.  This was her party piece and as the coffin was taken from the church an elderly man from the congregation sang this beautiful song....

Love his voice, love the songs he sings one of the best of the best, so humbled, went to a one of his shows, years ago, in Dublin, Luke Kelly's name was mention, and Paddy said Luke was the best folk singer.
