I went back and played this due to nostalgia, it was the first game I ever owned myself as a child. My mom was murdered when I was 19. I never thought Ratchet and Clank would give me watery eyes.

I think the best part of this scene that no one really talks about is how Ratchet only really wants to stop Drek once his home is the next one to be destroyed. It's a small detail but it shows that he's still being selfish and isn't stopping Drek because it's the right thing to do

IMO Ratchet 1, 2, 3, and Gladiator are the best games in the series. Yes, the Future series has much better graphics and it's still fun to play but I feel like something is missing in the newer games. In comparison with the original trilogy, they lack some edge, the original gritty, sometimes even risque humour for teens and adults that I loved (especially in Ratchet 1) is completely gone, replaced with unfunny slapstick for kids, and the characters have become bland. I remember I was genuinely laughing at e.g. the Janice and Lance gag or the interactions between irritated Ratchet, kind-hearted Clank, and dumb and egoistic Qwark. There's almost nothing left of the original trilogy's charm in the newer games :(
