What are the differences between Katana & Tachi? About naginata, tanto, wakizashi, ＆ odachi!

Naginata has a curved bladeon the tip of a long handle, while the yari has a straight tip.
Naginata was mainly used from the Heian to the early Muromachi period when warriors were fighting duels on horseback, and Yari became more commonly used in battle from the late Muromachi period when warriors started to fight in groups on land.

Naginata was meant to swing around and slash to fight, but this was not suitable when people fought in groups, so that’s why the yari, mainly for stabbing (which doesn’t affect your allies) cbeame the mainstream.

By the way, the transition rfom individual duels o wars in groups ppened due to Japan xperiencing the Mongolian invasions.

Also some yari had spike/blade protrusions on the sides to add some versatility (chopping/bonking attacks instead of just thrusting)in less crowded combat scenarios

I see a lot of people refering to naginata when they mention 'Japanese spear'. Otherwise, there are people who don't know what a halberd is, a naginata is a halberd, not a spear.
Also, Shogo-san, what is the yari with a protective bar of metal at the blade's end? I don't know how to actually describe it, but it is like a trident with side prongs acting like a trap to the enemy's weapon, and they are almost straight.
