How to use a multimeter for beginners. I explain what each selection does and how to use all the different settings and features on a clamp on multimeter. Just to name a few, I go over: voltage, amp draw, resistance, continuity, Low Z, diode, capacitance, temperature, micro amps, millivolts, NCV, peak max/min, Inrush, and more! Besides a brief explanation of what each of the selections is meant to test, I also show a practical example of how to use it. This video is a great crash course on the basics of how to use a meter. If you're interested in the multimeter I used in this video, here it is:

Multimeters have come a long way over the years. Even the low to mid- priced meters will offer most needed features.
The first meter that I ever used was a Simpson 260 ANALOG meter. You had to know how to read the scales behind the needle movement. That classic meter is still available today ( it’s not cheap ).
Stay well, Jay. 👍👍👍

Well, I didn’t know that you can test lightbulbs using a voltage meter. Usually if you can tell if a light bulb is burned out just try turning on with the light switch and see if the light turns on. If not, then the light is burned out. Thank you for showing us in this video.

Great timing! I just bought a similar meter to check the amperage on the new A/C and furnace I recently installed - _after_ watching your videos relevant to the install.

I've been looking for a video that explains all this stuff. Great video! Thanks! What are your thoughts between a 400 amp and 600 amp clamp multimeter? Is 400 ok?

I remember messing around with a free Harbor Freight multimeter years ago and somehow fried it

I have the UEI DL389B and it has not specific IN RUSH button or feature. Can I test IN RUSH with this meter somehow?

I have a question unrelated to the video and would appreciate your thoughts. Is it harder on your AC compressor to cycle on and off, or to run continuously?

Would you recommend this meter? Lost my entire tool bag recently, can’t afford to get the fieldpiece I once had. This one has more features than that fieldpiece anyway.

I have hard time understanding electricity and current, how do you see it?
Please don’t reply by saying it is free electron or movement of electrons from atom to atom ! Thanks
