ONEPLUS 10 PRO: BEHIND THE CURVE

The 10 Pro is an encouraging step toward OnePlus becoming a true competitor to Samsung and Google. The hardware is great, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset delivers great performance, and the $899 price is right. But there are still some places where OnePlus needs to do some catching up, starting with the camera system.

"There's room for improvement in the camera department". Story of every OnePlus device ever.

I remember when oneplus was an actual flagship killer for an average person costing well under half of what flagships costed but everything has changed and its pretty high up there with everything else

Oneplus peaked with the 7t pro. Nothing stands this phone out from the pack but it costs as much as the competition.

Great to see OnePlus trying to be more competitive with their pricing again but I really just haven't been excited for one of their phones in a long time. Now that phones are mostly kind of doing it all. I feel like, if my priority is cost-efficiency and software, Pixel is the clear answer. If my priority is premium hardware, Samsung is the clear answer. And OnePlus is in an awkward middle-ground where they offer great hardware with mediocre software and the worst camera of the 3. Perhaps if their camera didn't feel so behind, it'd make more sense. The trade-offs for what you gain vs what you lose by going from Google to Samsung can make a lot of sense. But I think the Pixel is still better overall than the OP10. As it stands, I'm just not even considering them right now.

As much as I miss Dieter, Allison has been so good with the reviews (both on the website and the channel here).

The 9 Pro has a good system, outside of the zoom, it's software that needs a little more put into it.The 10 Pro has a weird UW this year, but I bet it'll be just as useful.

I bought the 8 Pro as they were known for the software updates. I can say that OnePlus is no longer good at software updates. I have yet to get Android 12 (while Samsung and the others have updated) and still on Feb 2022 security patch. This will be the last OnePlus phone. They've gone downhill.

Great review. Just sad that OnePlus has evolved as a company and the term flagship killer doesn't apply to their phones anymore because they ARE flagships with matching pricing to boot. Here's hoping Carl Pei brings back the term 'flagship killer' with the Nothing Phone (1)

I love seeing Seattle in a Verge review video! NYC is beautiful but I love my city!

The issue with OnePlus is that they introduced themselves as a flagship killer. People are willing to make small compromises when the price is aggressively competitive. But when you charge as much as a flagship and those small compromises are still there, they don't sit as well

4:30 What are "the very fastest Android phones" that don't happen to use SD 8 Gen1 and perform noticeably better? SD 8 Gen1 is among the best processors available for Android phones -- along with Exynos 2200, Dimensity 9000 and Tensor that come with their own small gains and losses here and there, but not so much to make any of them stand out from the crowd.

How can you actually test battery life when every shot with the screen on showed the phone had no SIM card? 🤔

First 11 seconds of the review summed it up for me.
If the charging feature is the most impressive, you can understand.
The charging not even being the fastest makes you understand even more.

It's really sad to see where OnePlus has gone especially having the name Hasselblad on your phone and still getting the "There's room for improvement in the camera department" review. Also I don't know if the NA version is different, but this phone failed horribly in durability.
