Daylight saving to begin in some states

Daylight saving begins in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT on Sunday at 2 am.

Residents in those states will lose an hour of sleep but will gain later sunsets in the lead-up to summer.

Business leaders in Queensland have renewed calls for the state to introduce daylight saving ahead of the 2032 Olympics.

New research shows most Queenslanders support having an extra hour of sunshine.

Here’s a thought stick daylight saving and for those who insist on an extra hour of sunshine get up an hour earlier and leave the rest of us alone.

It's going to mess up your sleep cycle.

Just stop this pestilence.
Make it voluntary, then all the kiddies with their mickey mouse watches can go on pretending it is another time.

DST is a bad idea in the US, sorry to hear Aussies are plagued with it too. I wasn’t sure until I lived in a few states without DST (Arizona, Hawaii, and parts of Indiana don't use DST). Yes it sounds good at first but, what they never tell you is that we human beings are biological creatures that follow natural circadian rhythms or cycles. Women are not the only ones who have cycles, we all follow natural cycles in how we adapt to the seasonal changes in the light. I know that many like to worship science. I like science too but, I do not worship science, I worship God mate. As convenient as DST can be, there is a cost that you will surely feel. Its like people walking around with their faces in their phones, trying to find love through a dating app instead of just looking up and taking in your natural environment, saying g'day to the people around you that you will meet.

Anyone who claims it's good for business, doesn't know how time zones work.

A recent study shows daylight saving increases racism.

I can stand daylight savings. What's wrong with taking it as it comes. Why do people always want to manipulate the natural world. Your getting more daylight as it is.👎

Most people on these comments don't like or want it. Time for a new national poll, On DLS. That would be great to see the what the results, would be.

Personally I’m banning daylight saving this year from my life. I had to put up with it way too long in my working life and even without the 30 years of shift work was hard enough as it was. With people working longer hours these days it’s totally pointless. You go to work in the dark and you often come home in the dark.

Many QLDers are stil worried about the faded curtains.

QLD the Sunshine ☀️ State does not need daylight savings. I read an article that said more than 60 per cent of Qld’ers want it. That 60%+ must work and live in air conditioning environments. The farmers who live and work in the salad bowl of QLD do not want it.

It's not just an "extra hour", it's a 2 month jolt in circadian rhythms overnight, twice a year. CRs adjust at the rate of 60seconds per day along with the natural day length.
" Daylight savings" is a decision based on biological ignorance, or a willful disregard for the physiological disruption it causes.

Most European countries and the uk will set their clocks back 1 hour as Daylight saving time ends on 27 October 2024
Daylight saving time ends in the US and Canada on 3 November 2024
At least Australians will have the sunrise and sunset about 1 hour later today
