I think that Retro Modding makes some of the best shells in the business but hard to recommend to beginners because of the amount of extra unnecessary work that it requires :/

Great content. I really enjoy that you care about these game systems, and take the time to make these videos. I've taken your preferences and am going to do my sp mod. Yeah yeah, sp. Thanks man.

Your attention to detail and descriptive method is bullet proof. Very good, engaging delivery for a mod process that is easy to follow.

Got a busted GB with a busted up screen coming in as my first project for something exactly like this!

I'm surprised how simple the soldering work seems to be! Last time I ever soldered anything was in jewelry making class for high school and that was kind of scary but fun LOL. I could try this...

when placing the screen onto the guide i used some double sided tape to hold the screen in place it worked out well as the guide allows the screen to slide around and the same with the small pcb on the backside of the guide

You are a bit wrong there, it actually wasn't the games being good that gave it the heads up from the competition... the competition had good games too.

The real reason was 3 fold (and in no particular order)

1st, the battery life. Less power means it lasts longer.

2nd was the price. At the time, parents were the ones buying the systems so they'd obviously buy the cheaper system. Especially since, back then, our parents viewed video games as toys...

3rd, Nintendo was just a bigger more trusted name than the competition...

I appreciate the metric conversion!
I thought retromodding had the option to get them pretrimmed? It's an extra $5 or something like that. Maybe it's only for the SPs
