As a Filipino, Vietnam really impressed me in these recent years. Considering the suffering they had in the previous century, they managed to get themselves straight and catch up with my laggard country.

Philippines was said to be the second in whole Asia when it comes to GDP back in the 50s and 60s, and all of our neighbor caught up and went ahead of us. At some point, we just don't have to blame the entirety of it to the government, we should also take a good look at ourselves on why we're so slow and seems to be clueless on to where we're heading to.

Vietnam is in a great position to take on a lot of the low-cost manufacturing that has described China for the last 25-30 years. There are fewer legal barriers, a greater percentage of people in Vietnam speak English compared to China, and Vietnam’s demographics will provide it with a large competitive workforce within the next 5-10 years.

Many multinational companies from Apple to Dell to Nike have already been moving a lot of their industry out of China to other nearby Asian nations. The biggest reason a significant amount of foreign industry remains in China despite its competitive advantage in labor and capital declining is because China is becoming a massive importer nation like the United States. This plays especially well for Vietnam. It’s proximity to China, number of people who speak Mandarin to do business with China, as well as the previously above mentioned points above could turn it into a rapidly developing economy within our lifetime.

Good luck Vietnam! 🇺🇸 🇨🇳 🤝 🇻🇳
