Nanoscience: Fluorescence #shorts

Gault is a nanoscience major at the University of Guelph.
When light in the non-visible spectrum is absorbed by an electron, it can jump into an excited state. The electron then emits a photon in the visible spectrum when it relaxes to the ground state. This phenomenon is called fluorescence.
The nanoscience program is a joint program with Physics and Chemistry and explores the novel intersection of science on the nanoscale. For more information about our program reach out!
