Was There REALLY a Cataclysmic Global GREAT FLOOD in Human History? | Ancient Architects

As many of you will know, Great Flood myths are found in many cultures around the world and many people share the belief that one global event was the cause of so many different flood myths, from various cultures separated by space and time.

This does seem feasible, especially when we know that global sea level has risen since the end of the last glacial maximum, sometimes gradually and sometimes more rapidly, such as at the end of the Younger Dryas period, some 11,700 years ago. It also seems like a real possibility if the earth was hit by a series of cometary impacts or airbursts at the beginning of the Younger Dryas.

Yet, the question remains, was there REALLY a global Great Flood in human history. Is such a thing even possible?

In this video I explore the question and give my opinion based on data and logic and I also give one possible idea of the event that led to the most famous flood myth of all - Noah's Ark of Genesis. Watch the video to learn more!

This is one of the most challenging videos to put together. I’ll add my full list of sources into the description tomorrow. It’s long! If I get anything wrong, please do comment and correct me. It’s complicated and hard work but I tried to give an unbiased view based on the data available, as well as my own logic! A number of papers are also behind a pay wall, which I’m yet to download. This is a work in progress, and any errors or new information, I’ll be sure to make a follow-up video! Cheers.

IMHO another possible 'Great Flood' could have come from the impact in The Indian Ocean, Randal Carlson talks about . If I remember correctly he said circa 7000BC, 18mike wide
crater, and points to flood features in Madagascar and Arabia. Carlson also speculates the Flood/Tsunami could have gone far up into Mesopotamia, and may have been Gilgamesh's Flood .

"Greek mythology describes three floods, the flood of Ogyges, the flood of Deucalion, and the flood of Dardanus. Two of the Greek Ages of Man concluded with a flood: The Ogygian Deluge ended the Silver Age, and the flood of Deucalion ended the First Bronze Age. In addition to these floods, Greek mythology says the world was also periodically destroyed by fire."

What many Christian geologists defend is that it was not just rain and tsunamis. It was plate tectonics being pushed apart by great cracks, which pushed the continents apart, heating the ocean while causing earthquakes and lots of evaporation, which caused huge rainfalls and kinda explains the patches of fossil mixes we have around the world, places with dinosaurs + fish + crustaceans + crocodiles + other animals altogether in many fossil sites. It's much more intriguing than just rain and tsunamis. There interesting points about that.

I'd recommend 'The Adam and Eve Story', by Thomas Chan; declassified by the CIA not so long ago. Follow up with Suspicious Observers and Thunderbolts Project.

Tsunamis everywhere isn't a requirement. We know of Doggerland and Sundaland so what other places sunk (or were covered, rather)? And where did the survivors go? Perhaps they spread the 'myth' all around, meaning that the places where the myth still survives nowadays don't necessarily had to suffer it?

I left the bathroom tap on and when I got home from work I had flooded my living room. I know this is what experts would call a localised event, but I think it should have an honourable mention in the great flood myths of planet earth.

Can’t forget about isostatic rebound effect that may have caused global tsunamis after the mass glacial melt, disturbing many fault lines. I’m not refuting you, cause i haven’t interpreted that data, just helping to keep things in mind. Very interesting video. Reminds me of how dynamic earth can be. LOVED the Black Sea idea. Makes sense in a Judeo-Christian mega-flood context

Randal Carlson talks about an astroid impact in the Indian ocean

It is important to note that the flood is not the only common element in the myths. There are also other things in the myths like a warning before the flood happens, the number of survivors, building a sort of vessel to accommodate animals etc.. I think it is the combination of all these things which hint towards the event being global.

Um, burckle crater shows clear signs of having been a megatsunami in the Indian ocean around 3000 bc. Another documented in the pacific around 1400 ad.

There is collosal sedimentation at the end of the Mississippi, which was laid down rapidly in the period of the younger dryas and there is nothing else like it on earth.

An ice sheet impact would have flash evaporated potentially tens of thousands of cubic kilometers of ice, which would have fallen as rain.

Titicaca is 10k ft above sea level and you think they had a localized flood?

It rained and it rained. Great flood could mean floods not a tsunami. Great vid as always

Matt, in the same way you describe the tipping point in the black sea, there was also a similar event, I believe around the same time with the Mediterranean sea straight of gilbrater, another in what is now the persian gulf, red sea, doggerland, southeast Asia, and South America.
All due to the rising waters from the younger or older dryas.

Other such locations that could have had a similar effect to what you describe happening to the black sea are:
1) The Red Sea, the strait of Bab-el-Mandeb between Ethiopia and Yemen is only 96ft (29m) deep, so easily exposed during the last glacial maximum. Even though I have not been able to find a year for when it was submerged, it is possible that it effected human populations. From various graphs on sea level, it looks like a date of approx 7, 500 BCE and 7, 000 BCE.
2) A similar bottle -neck would be the Strait of Hormuz at the entrance to the Persian Gulf, with a depth of 131ft (40m). Again sea level graphs suggest that this would have been submerged approx 8, 000 BCE and 7, 500 BCE.
Both of these events would have had a devastating effect on any population living beyond these barriers.
When thousands of years after these events and the Black Sea deluge, someone first wrote them down, from tales that had been passed down by word of mouth, with no clear chronology, it would be logical to presume that they were all part of the same event, and hence it must have been a worldwide flood.

I’m always intrigued by satelite image of the region in Mauritania, between the Eye of the Sahara and the Atlantic. Does it not look like remnants of a huge tsunami, preserved by the dryness of the desert?

Thanks Matt, I love your videos, love your opinion on your content, and I love that you're not afraid to admit when you're wrong. It's sad that the mainstream don't do the same

It sounds like a lot of guessing on your part as I pan my eyes over to another of your videos "I was wrong! The sphinx erosion does PRE-date the pyramids" yes, Robert Schoch told us this years ago.. Keep up your research, maybe check out Randall Carlson and Graham Hancock on the Joe Rogan show :)

its also important to note why the flood event was added to the story/myth. In most myths i know, flood is considered as the end of an era and the beginning of another. And the reccurence of this happening quit some times is still striking. Thanks for another great video.
