Tuner Cars vs. New ANTI CAR MEET Speedbumps!

Well well well... a development to the Reading Japanese Meet is here. The local council have installed two brutal speedbumps to dissuade modified cars from gathering in the car parks.
No, they're not here to slow cars down, that's never been an issue on that miniscule stretch of tarmac, it's a blatant war against the modified car.

I'm a civil engineer, just reported them to the council as they shouldn't legally be able to install them! Yes its private property but the fact its causing traffic into the main road will be the issue the council wont want.

Our local council (suburban Sydney AU) put a heap of aggressive bumps like this in, on a MAIN road! Local residents complained about the noise, but they ignored the people. So the people took matters into their own hands. Every night, many pieces would go missing. They’re only held in with a masonry bolt screwed into a plastic core that’s hammered down into a hole drilled into the road surface. Easily removed, but also easily replaced every couple of days by council workers who seemed to have an endless supply of bump parts. So now they screw the bolts back down and whip the heads off with a battery grinder. Takes about a week before council install more, as they have to spend ages removing the cut off bolts, or drill new holes.

But the latest one was a ripper. I’m told it was a 50/50 mix of diesel and ULP, poured all over the bumps, and set on fire. After a good 30-60 seconds a nice heavy truck comes along and does a few lap. Not only flattens them, but embeds the covers in so they can’t access the bolts to replace the flat sections. It’s been 4 weeks now, and the flattened bumps still haven’t been replaced.

They've purposefully spaced those bumps so the second bump impacts the front bumper as the rear wheels go over the first set, making the front bumper lower due to the angle of the car. I'd be looking at lodging charges against the council for setting out to intentionally damage cars. That, or I'd go to their car staff car park and install some "speed bumps" for them.

Looks like they're deliberately positioned so the back wheels going over the first will pitch the front bumper down in to the second?

I'm sorry, these bumpers can damage stock cars, not just lowered cars.

They put these throughout our local Tesco. Hundreds of complaints and damaged cars later they put lower ones in.

That's gonna be a lot damage claims. Someone I knew scraped his daily on a bump like this, damaged his exhaust. He sent a claim to the local authorities and got all the repairs payed for. It always worth a try.

I’ve heard they can be removed with a 14mm socket and a drill 🫣

In Peterborough the car meet organisers remove those bumps in no time with sockets on drills.

The council will love to see bills for replacement carbon splitters, sports exhausts etc

This is ridiculous when most these cars pay 400 - 1000 tax a year plus the rest

Its funny how police in my EU country comes in force for a car meet and all the town officials try whit speed bumbs but when some visitors start street fights or make problems for women they are always rly slow to work.... i see in UK the same.

Those speed bumps will damage normal cars too, and that width restriction is ludicrous. Going to push punters away from the site and increase rents for the businesses.

Next car meet. Everyone shows up in American made pickups lifted so tall you can walk under them.

20 years ago i dropped my mum off at Heathrow in my snake bellied 2litre Nova. after playing in the tunnel and going round the roundabout with the model of concorde i went up a ski slope to 'departures' where i found 1 of these bolt down speed bumps [but more triangular] I had no hope of getting over it. I couldn't reverse cos loads of people had followed me up the ski slope. The queue was going round the roundabout and into the tunnel. My mum grabbed her bag and left me. I had to get help. which took at least 10 minutes to build me a ramp onto the pavement to get passed the speed bump. when i drove out the traffic jam was at least a mile long. they talked about prosecuting me but i never heard anything. When i went back several years later the speed bump had been removed.

It's all about control. It's only gonna get worse folks. Those in charge don't want you to express your freedom to gather in public. I'm a biker, and the whole scene has been hijacked by the waving finger

This dude somehow is interesting enough that I just watched something so insanely pointless for 15 minutes and enjoyed it.

Oooh- Fire!
