So Thomas Jefferson, who coined this term with a "wall of separation between church and state, " was just... some guy? Did he sell hot dogs outside Congress, maybe?

I don't hear an actual statement on separation of church and state here, at least as a doctrine of law. He seems to be speaking almost exclusively about individuals and individual beliefs, whereas separation of church and state mostly is thought of as not making any laws favoring any specific religion. In short, he hasn't stated anything prescient in this clip and simply stated his position on the subject. (Probably a "feature" of the format, e.g. Make Better Shorts Guys)

The first amendment of the constitution protects our religious liberty and therefore also freedom from forced religion as well from the government itself. Any laws that have a basis in religion could potentially be seen as a violation of ones first amendment directly. This guy has no idea what hes talking about. I wish more civil rights lawyers pressed this issue.

No more separation of church and state! What should be the official state position on infant baptism? What's the new official state position on tithing? What's the official state position on women pastors?

I was in a program at University that was a Living-Learning Center (LLC) and apparently a program for Jews in a Public or Government University. I knew there had been a lot of Jews around but I just thought (we had to apply to the LLC) they all were interested in what I was interested in. Turns out a lot of the Jews were related, attended Synagogue together. But after I thought about it, I've seen State Universities with "Methodist" hospitals or "Baptist" hospitals and so I'm guessing that Government intersects all the time with religion. There is the concept of "separation of church and state" that comes from somewhere and I guess I need to do more reading on Constitutional Law. But hey, I used to know a woman I'd speak to frequently and she was hard to talk to about religion because of some unusual concepts. I'm not absolutely sure what she thought was going on but she did not have a father at home though she would have had some male protectors and influence based on what she said. But I think she was sexually abused by young males in her Church. She spoke of one relative who would never speak to her but gave her panty hose for Christmas and other comments... I mean, people are people and I suspect there are good people who are not so religious and religious people who have real needs and find a way to satisfy those needs. With respect to religion, quite honestly you need to stick to your own group if you have one because some of these religious groups believe they are at war with one another.
