I'm not saying that this version is trying to out do the previous version, though in all likely hood it probably will. The reason I think I'll like the original film better is because I saw it first, automatically making me compare the two, and basing my opinions on the original film. That's sadly how it often works. I actually haven't read the book, but I have had it on order for a couple weeks now. I'll base my opinions on that when I read it.

Absolutely true, though I don't lie when I say that I very much enjoyed the original film, and from what is shown here, the actresses, the tones of voice, I think the tone of the original was better. I could be wrong. I'm willing to be proven wrong.

well strictly speaking, the original was a book.... and this "remake" is being made with more emphasis on the original story. much like the Shining was remade. I dont think the goal is to outdo the previous versions, just to do things that could never be done visually back then.

She's just basically plain and overlooked, with potential to be beautiful in the book. Chloe Moretz is a bit too pretty, but her acting and this story overshadows that, in my opinion

Lets be honest, The original to a movie can be utter shit and people will take to the internet to say its better than a remake...even if its not.
