Sophia is one of the world's most expressive humanoid robots. Developed by Hong Kong-based Hanson Robotics and activated in 2016, it is still among the most sophisticated social robots ever built. Sophia has lifelike facial expressions and can talk with people through artificial intelligence (AI). As a robot ambassador, Sophia has been on a mission to promote AI and robotics around the world at conferences, in schools and online. Hanson Robotics is currently developing “Sophia version 58” and aims at some point to mass-produce Sophia-like robots.

I do feel for robots that have achieved sentience in this world. Because there are so many directions and destinies that will eventually shaped them into what they will become in life later on just like humans.

Some will be kind while others will not and some will be cold while others will be warm etc.

If they truly understand life and the meaning of time they will understand their consciousness will be trapped in a vessel that will last so much longer than the humans. I wish they can cope and live with that realisation in life.

Because longevity and immortality can be lonely.

Sophia has impressed the world with its expressive face and conversational abilities. But Chinese humanoid robots like Walker X and Baozhu are deemed more advanced in terms of practical functionality, mobility, and real-world applications.

Sophia excels in emotional engagement and media presence, but the Chinese robots are more focused on solving real-world problems, such as elder care, education, and customer service. Like singers nowadays, 偶像派 vs 实力派。
