The "Hymn to Liberty" or "Hymn to Freedom" (Ὕμνος εἰς τὴν Ἐλευθερίαν) is a poem written by Dionysios Solomos in 1823 that consists of 158 stanzas, which is used as the national anthem of Greece and Cyprus. It was set to music by Nikolaos Mantzaros, and is the longest national anthem in the world by length of text. In 1865, the first three stanzas (and later the first two) officially became the national anthem of Greece and, from 1966, also that of Cyprus.
FRANÇAIS: L’Hymne à la Liberté est un poème de 158 strophes écrit par Dionýsios Solomós en 1823. La musique fut composée par Nikólaos Mántzaros en 1828, et, en 1865, les vingt-quatre premières strophes devinrent l’hymne national de la Grèce. Seules les deux premières sont jouées et chantées lors de l'élévation du drapeau. À ce jour, l’Hymne à la liberté est officiellement l'hymne national de deux pays : la Grèce et Chypre.
