I’m just learning how to drive a manual Impreza and today I was able to drive without stalling! The better I get at it the more fun I realize driving a manual is!

I did'nt expect to see THIS kind of video. Driving 20+ years with manual transmission and with this video its confirmed that I'm soon outdated and sitting on historic knowledge and know how. But for the last 3 years been driving pure electric so its not all bad...

Thanks for making this video, Alex. Your demonstration with the turntable and fan is elegant and intuitive. I also love the tip about getting the feel for a clutch by starting without using the accelerator.

That example with the fan and the turntable was very well done. Really useful in imagining what the how the clutch interacts with the flywheel

Alex thanks a lot. I've always wondered what to do when approaching a stop/stoplight and what when stopped. I really appreciate how detailed your videos. Keep them coming

Good tutorial Alex! I had a '79 280ZX with a 5 speed manual and it was extremely smooth. My '84 VW Rabbit GTI 5 speed was also quick and smooth shifting. My present '72 Beetle has the old school 4 speed, with reverse down, and push down to the left!

Semi-Learned how to drive stick in an 87 Corvette convertible about 5 years ago, recently bought a manual 92 Ford Taurus SHO and re-learned completely how to drive it in less than a week. Been over 2 months now and loving it.

#savethemanuals is a useless tag, as manufacturing only answer to consumer demand.
#buythemanuals is a better tag.

Had to borrow a coworkers car for the weekend, haven't driven a standard for over 15 years, and when i did it was only for a couple days. Completely forgot everything about everything. This lil tutorial, along with the explanation of how a manual transmission actually functions was very informative and exactly what I required. Much appreciated 🙏.

Love the video...As a manual driver myself for over 30yrs, I only use the clutch to move off and when stopped. Not something to try if you're new to manual transmission. A necessary skill for saving clutch on trucks...Keep up the great work Alex....You're still the best auto reviewer out there....

Thank you alex for a very professional video as always. Excellent composure in trying to explain complex mechanics while driving a complex machine. And yes, totally agree downshifting is useful for emergrncy situations but for every stop is common among younger kids (myself too 10 yrs ago) but experienced drivers realize breakpads are cheaper than clutch! Excellent advice

I put 276k miles on a stick, it was a 2000 Nissan Sentra SE. When I traded it in, it worked as good as the day I bought it. My mechanic couldn’t believe it.
