Amai Kuda and Y Josephine - CAVE (Official Video)

Film by Jonathan Lawley of Hello Video
@hellovideoinc
The song Cave was written in 2012 at the first jam session Y Josephine and Amai Kuda ever had, which also happened to be the second time the pair had even met. As a tribute to the song that started them on this journey together, they decided to collaborate with filmmaker Jonathon Lawley to create a video for Cave. The song itself is, a creation story - a telling of how life began. “She was born in a cave and under the sea is where she lay. It started out with a song…” The lyrics tell us of a female creator that birthed our world “taking light into her hand so that she could find a way.” The song reminds us not to ‘forget where [we’re] from’ – an invitation to reawaken our indigeneity and that deep sense of connection we originally had with the earth, and with a feminine creative life force. The video for Cave is a visual reflection of this feminine conception of life, and of the coming together of two women, in a romantic and musical partnership. It highlights the parallels between the human body and earth’s body, between water and skin, between rock and bone…. For these two, music has always been about raw, naked truth-telling. Thus, it is most appropriate that they chose to bear it all in this visually stunning film about love, womanhood and beginnings.
