I learned more in 13 minutes here than I did watching several hours of everyone else. Way to go and keep it up. Love your content and style of delivery

Usually when I watch a van video I have to watch 30 more to feel like I thoroughly grasp the concept but with this I feel like I have enough info to make a knowledgeable choice between the two.... which is so rare to get from just one video... thank you!

Wow, great info! It seems that it took me a couple of years to research to the point where I decide on the solar equipment, had it installed, using just one 100 ah AGM battery and the alternator to charge. Tomorrow I'll have two 100 ah lithium batteries, and a 2000 watt invertor installed, along with a fuse block, cut off switch and all my lights, roof vent fan, Webasto heater rewired into the fuse block and also switches, usb outlets and a 12 volt outlet all to complete the electrical system in the van. I've been living in the van full time for over a year. I started out with the roof vent fan, and insulation. Everything else including the bed was make shift. There is still quit a bit of work left to do to make it more attractive and to functional. The electrical and solar is by far the most expensive job. I am going to love having a home that can easily function totally off grid for weeks at a time. So long as I can access water, from a creek, lake or river, I will be able to stay off grid for 2-3 weeks. I will never have to pack my laptop, and other electronics into a library, coffee shop or other to charge. Weehoo!

Maybe add one sentence on environmental impact of each type. Very clear and helpful.

Greetings, I have been enjoying your videos. I’m almost ready for solar for my truck build, so this video is good timing mostly because I’m looking for a good battery system. I’m still in the process of researching different components to complete the electrical system. Thank you for your timely and informative video and information on this subject. Continued success in your channel. Please keep the infor coming. Sincerely, Rikky🤪

The higher charge efficiency of Lithium is an advantage for solar charging, as fewer watts coming from the panels on top of the van will be turned into heat and more into usable electricity.

With lithium you're basically getting a 10 times longer lasting battery for about 3 times the price of Lead-acid. However, as you said, you would need to use it for at least 3 years to see a pay-off for that investment. As long as everything goes fine than it will be a good investment but if anything goes wrong and you have to toss it, your warranty will probably be already over past 3 years. Still, if I had the budget I'd choose the lithium every time.

There are cheaper LiFePO4 batteries available. It seems like the upfront cost is becoming less of a compelling reason.
