Scenes of the Jupiter II being engulfed in flames are indelible in-mind and technically impressive.

As the Jupiter 2 struggles to break free from the planet’s gravitational pull, Maureen sends Will and Smith upstairs to confess.😂 The special effects, the soundtrack and even their technical mumbo jumbo make for an intense scene. Fifty years after watching this, it still holds up!

More than 50 years have passed and that ship still looks impressive. None of the new versions are as interesting looking and so scifi.

Love looking at the ladies all strapped into their chairs and I love the effects with the Jupiter 2 taking off... Absolutely stellar even by today's standards

I still love it. Reminds me watching it with my parents, in the late 60’s. And what a spectacular soundtrack!

I wish they had had just one episode where Don laid out Dr. Smith like a rug...

June Lockhart is such a quality actor just as she was in Lassie.

When intensity came from acting not from AI.

The fusion core lights are still rotating unevenly on the 4ft Jupiter 2, just as in episode 1, The Reluctant Stowaway as the Jupiter 2 lifted off from Earth. The grin on Angela's face is priceless, as Jonathan Harris lets out the Comical Scream, vs what he did when the Jupiter 2 lifted off from Earth.🤣

Apparently John learned alot about assisting in flying the ship after the crash in Season 1.

Don did all of the piloting of the ship in early Season 1.

The special effects department had an accident in the Jupiter II blast off scenes. The Jupiter II caught fire! There are photos, in my library, where they had to get a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. The model was scorched and then repainted.
These scenes were a little too hot!

At 4:00 it looks like the Jupiter's atomic engine is about to fall off. I think the f/x guys bounced the Jupiter II model a bit too much.

I love how Don says "Firing 1 and 2" and he appears to push the "right" buttons, and the corresponding lights come on.

They should have tossed Smith out of the airlock in the first episode....! ! !

Such terrific special effects all done with models!

Will was funny when he told Dr. Smith you will have to explain that yourself. I don't know what a vagrant impulse means.
For a spaceship that is supposed to be built out of titanium how could one of those exploding rocks puncture a hole into the side of the ship? Especially when it withstood a meteor storm in the past? 🤔

Well-done escape sequence as the planet blows apart beneath them. The cause of the destruction of Preplanis should have been something more credible, rather than the uncontrolled mining efforts of some unbelievable space prospector. For example, the planet's unusual orbit taking it close to its sun may have eventually taken its toll.
