First Look: Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Base, BMW M3 GT2 Rim, Formula Rim, and V2 Pedals

Fanatec is introducing its new top-range sim-racing controls--the ClubSport Wheel base and rims and V2 pedals. I've been chosen as a "community tester" by the iRacing community as the release of these products approaches. In this video, we take a first look at the hardware: first impressions, materials and build quality, button layout, and upgrades to the V2 pedals. We also take a quick look at the packaging. We conclude with a look at the test platform--my custom 80/20 cockpit which will be offered as an orderable item directly from 80/20 Corporation.

That's one feature I wish Fanatec would incorporate that other manufacturers don't. Being able to slide the whole mechanism left or right for position rather than moving the pedal face.

thanks for the work on these items...I live in Indy as well and grew up at 30th and Moller and  watched Gary and Tony Bettenhausen at the big boy track, Indianapolis. I just got  the pedals as a Christmas gift and am adding the rest of the components on my own dime...I will be checking in on the progress of your sim station.

I have been a big critic of Fanatec in the past. Both their attitude to service and the lack of quality on some of their products.

When the video upload finished, YouTube offered an option to reduce camera shake which I'd never seen before. I accepted it, and it's responsible for the "shimmering". I'll not use it again should I be prompted.

Sorry--first time with the camera and we need to become accustomed to its minimum focusing distance. I'm simply too busy to redo it--there are about 6-8 more videos about this hardware coming and we'll try to do better.

Wow, just when i thought that the T500RS was the best wheel for the money, this came out of nowhere ... just look at this BMW wheel ! Just cannot imagine it would feel to drive the C6R of iRacing with this :0

I asked Thomas to add that feature to the next generation of CSP. Maybe he could make an extra wide pedal plate that would screw into the clutch and brake. OwensRacing (GTPlanet & on YouTube) has a CNC shop. I know he can make such pedal plates. He just hasn't done anything with Fanatec pedals yet.

That's a great rig. I really dig 80/20 rigs. I want to do one someday. I believe I heard you say on this video or another that you were working with someone on a kit version of your rig. Is that available yet? Would like to take a look at it and how much it costs.

What bit of resolution does the new fanatec gear have, older stuff was at 10bit, t500 is at 16bit, also very nice rig, only upgrade you needed was wheel, pedals are solid think it carries leobodnar board at 16bit resolution.

Im racing iRacing in everything from Mazda MX, the Mclaren to skip barber and star mazda. Is the Formula wheel good for SEQ shifter style racing? Thanks for answers!

It can be switched, I have not done it myself but driven CSP V1 with swithed pedals.
