My favorite thing about shorts is I'm far less picky about the cut than with any other type of garment.
I can walk into mostly any applicable store and there's a decent chance I'll see some shorts I like, and it's the sorta thing that's great and relatively feasible to have in a bunch of colors.

Lululemon pace breaks are truly the way. Worth the price tag. Also, I know H&M gets a bad rep but they have some good linen shorts I picked up for a low price too. Sometimes H&M come thru with their basics.
