As of late they haven't confirmed or denied any rumors. The last patch they released was on May 5th to address a few game-breaking bugs but that's it. I'm sure they will release some form of DLC/Free title update if the community garners their attention. The PC counterpart is getting a new patch this June but all they've said is "Stay tuned!"

Online is minimal but is of course dependent on your connection and net speed.
Singleplayer lag is not noticable on almost any old computer.

Confirmed information: Terraria is to be released on the 27th of March (Xbox360) and the 26th of March (PS3). The Price for Xbox is 1200 MSP or $14.99, PS3 is also $14.99. The game is expected to be buggy but will bring new characters as well as a new boss which you see at the end of the video! Enjoy

Minecraft came out 2009, full version was 2011.
Terraria was in work since 2010.

I have played minecraft for about 2 or 3 years now bad always loved it, especially the one on Xbox. But today my friend told me about terraria and I bought it. And I am coming to the conclusion that I probably won't be going back to minecraft for a while. While I was playing, it seemed like something new popped up every 20 minutes or so and I LOVED that. Minecraft just doesn't have much diversity in things to do. Even though the multiplayer is a bit buggy, I'd definitely play this over minecraft
