“Don’t worry I’m going home” dude was just thankful all he lost was his foot and he got to go back to his wife

"Don't worry bout it, I'm goin home" Fuck man, that made my heart shatter. That was the thought of many men back then, and despite the fact he lost his foot, he was one of the lucky ones who actually made it back. God Bless them all.

"Don't cry for me I'm the one getting the hell out of here I should be crying for you!" Is the most Marine thing I've ever heard. 💪💯

He deserves nothing but the best food, cleanest air, and the most loving family.

Guy gets his foot blown off. And he doesn’t want his comrad to have his feelings hurt over it happening to him on his watch. That is a tough ass, kind man.

Imo there’s no tougher men than the men from his generation. SemperFi marine!

This man makes me miss my Grandpa even more. He was a paratrooper.

“Don’t worry about me Don, I’ve just survived the war” essentially what he said. Wow

Getting your foot blown off is actually lucky compared to others.

The fact that he described the guy who was injured as the married guy says a lot to me. The depth of care for each other even when seeing the worst of man is the most amazing thing. He saw that guy and his family and thought of what it might mean for all of them if he didnt make it home. And i love the smile on his face when he says the man did make it home! This is what being American is and means.

Met this guy in Normandy France for the 79th anniversary. He wore that same hat. He was honored to take a picture with, but not as honored as I was. A true hero, a great man

"Normally if you grab the grenade that this guy throws at you you can throw it back at em" is an insane sentence. This guy lived such a different life from all of us

My great uncle had a horrific story from Iwo Jima, was in a landing craft and the ramp dropped immediately everyone got lit up from a machine gun, he played dead and laid their for hours until more Marines showed up.

The best generation. There's very few of these heroes left. Go spend some time with them. A real treasure. God bless you and thank you sir.
