I love how you can just refuse to go down the stairs and leave without the game calling you a coward or anything, as if it’s saying: “it’s too scary? Understandable. Exits to your right.”

Can we appreciate the detail of, when standing under the dripping blood, droplets actually hit the face of the camera lens and make an appropriate sound when hitting it? Like damn, it's a minute little detail but I love it.

This is one of my favorite SCP's. The author did a great job in leaving things mysterious and foreboding. They don't explain the frightening aspect away and leave a lot to personal interpretation, which to me makes it all the more spooky.

This SCP seems like it's taking anyone approaching as a threat. Knocking down the player was a clear warning not to proceed further.

The one thing the developer could've done better was to make the crying increase in volume during the ending sequence. Document #087-III on the official page for 087 mentions that as the test subject flees 087-1, the crying slowly gets louder - as though there may actually be a source for it, far enough down. Other than that, and the admittedly cheesy moment where 087-1's face was replaced by an eye (for whatever reason), this was a pretty solid interpretation of what could've transpired in 087-IV.

It wasn't this particular game, but for me, this is where it all began - my fascination with horror games and internet horror in general, more than 10 years ago.

This was uncontained, once. People could just wander in here, and the door would lock behind them, and they'd have these stairs in front of them. They didn't bring a light or a radio. There might not be anyone outside who knows where they went. They never come back out.
Just imagine that. Pre-contained SCPs don't get written about enough.

It's funny how the face repels you from going forward but the crying attempts to draw you forward. Wonder if the face or faces in this case, are the trapped souls that are trying to prevent others from meeting the same fate.

What a great game. There were so many renditions of this game back in the day; loved to pick up and play a new one every time they released. Reminds of little girl me who would jump over every little noise.
