Special Containment Procedures: SCP-087 is located on the campus of [REDACTED]. The doorway leading to SCP-087 is constructed of reinforced steel with an electro-release lock mechanism. It has been disguised to resemble a janitorial closet consistent with the design of the building. The lock mechanism on the doorknob will not release unless ██ volts are applied in conjunction with counter-clockwise rotation of the key. The inside of the door is lined with 6 centimeters of industrial foam padding.
Due to the results of the final exploration (see Document 087-IV), no personnel are permitted access to SCP-087.
Description: SCP-087 is an unlit platform staircase. Stairs descend on a 38 degree angle for 13 steps before reaching a semicircular platform of approximately 3 meters in diameter. Descent direction rotates 180 degrees at each platform. The design of SCP-087 limits subjects to a visual range of approximately 1.5 flights. A light source is required for any subjects exploring SCP-087, as there are no lighting fixtures or windows present. Lighting sources brighter than 75 watts have shown to be ineffective, as SCP-087 seems to absorb excess light.

So, I noticed something. Whenever the face started appearing, it was after each D-class started to say 'alright, I give up, time to stop, seriously'. Perhaps that's what -1 is meant to be, an entity that attempts to force you, one way or another, to continue on. It only appeared behind the girl because she was the only one to pass the hole that it spawns out of.

I love the fact that there was a constant knocking being heard after whatever the hell happened in test 4, so they soundproofed it. The knocking hasn't stopped, just the REPORTS of it have. Great word play.

So, no one's going to comment on the fact that the rusted metal and urine at the 17th flight was also where the second subject passes out?

And that the 89th flight with the hole was also where the second subject got furthest down

So, I think I've got this thing figured out. SCP-087-1is a rough fascimile of a human face with no detail. The first two times, it appeared BELOW the D-class. _It's a lure._ It wants you to think that it's the person making those cries. It tries to entice you to get close so it can grab you and feed itself, like an anglerfish's little worm-like appendage.

But after the first two explorations, it realized that it was scaring people _away_, not _towards_ its goal, and failed to ambush its prey, so it switched tack and appeared ABOVE the subject in the 3rd exploration, in order to frighten her and make her run downwards into its trap. SCP-087-1 isn't a unique entity. Neither is the source of the sound. The entire stairwell itself is alive, like a giant, concrete Sarlacc. Only instead of waiting for food to fall into its gullet, it tries to use the voice and the face to get close to its prey and consume it, like mice scrambling down a cat's esophagus. That was the "sticky" stuff the girl found, the entity secreted digestive juices in the same spot where the last guy was lying there unconscious. The urine speaks for itself.

....But worst of all, it's sapient. _It's learning._ It knows about the Foundation. And since the 4th expedition was expunged, I can imagine it probably adapted even further and did something truly horrific, perhaps even tricked the researchers themselves into slipping up. It probably changed the voice to switch from the child crying to the D-class sent down there, tricking the personnel into opening the door. It now knows that there are many more people out there, and that's why the knocking occurred. Much easier to just grab people right at the door then it is trying to lure them to travel all the way down.

I just LOVE how detailed these SCP documents are they are extremely convincing. If you found a document of SCP in a government lab with no prior knowledge i guarantee you would think SCP is real
