Syria crisis: what will happen next? Will US President Barack Obama win congressional support for a military strike against the Syrian regime of Bashar Hafez al-Assad?

The Syrian crisis has produced some strange bedfellows in Washington DC. GOP stalwarts such casino mogul Sheldon Adelson now support President Barack Obama.

What the neo-cons, Shelly and Obama have in common is they all want to bomb the Assad regime.

Times have certainly changed since the last election cycle, when Sheldon Adelson spent nearly $100 million, first to support Newt Gingrich and then Mitt Romney as part of efforts to unseat Obama. But on the issue of Syria, Obama and Adelson hold similar positions.

The Syrian regime is allied with Iran. It's for this reason the pro-Israel lobby wants to strike Syria. They fear that if Assad isn't punished for using chemical weapons, Iran will feel emboldened and go nuclear on Israel. Adelson has described a second holocaust if Iranian ambitions are left unchecked.

In their respective publications, the neo-con media cabal Bret Stephens, Bill Kristol and Charles Krauthammer are calling for an all-out strike against Assad and his family.

The pro-Israel lobby always gets its way ... so the war against Syria is a foregone conclusion.

There is little you can do, Rand Paul. Pro-Israeli money runs Washington. Maybe that is why John McCain found time to player online poker on his mobile-phone.

You are correct that they don't reflect popular sentiment. Bret Stephens in the Wall Street Journal has said Assad and his family should be killed. Also look up remarks on Syria from Bill Kristol and Charles Krauthammer.

Yeah, I don't think NMAWorldEdition watched the defense committee's hearing on Syria... No one is trying to go to war exactly

Because having a stable developed country practically next door is a bigger threat to Israeli interests than unstable developing country with no functional government.

While I don't disagree with any of this, Saudi Arabia and Qatar are also fighting it out in Syria with proxies and in the US Congress with suitcases of cash. Each one wants to build their own pipeline through the ruins of Syria. Assad has authorized a deal for Iran to build a pipeline instead.

I find it funny that I get better quality news from NMA, instead of the faux news stations in america.

Yep, Israel definitely has an angle here and I'm glad this channel is pointing it out. I actually voted 3rd party in both 2008 and 2012, in part, because I knew Barry, McInsane and Mitty boy were in AIPAC's pocket.

a destabilized country is profitable for Israel because it has to focus on internal stability instead of thinking about Israel

if you haven't noticed, somehow, by some strange and random twist of fate, most of the countries in the vicinity of Israel have been invaded, sanctioned or had "spontaneous grassroots revolutions" happen in them. Man, there are so many coincidences in this world....

Why won't Israel become the 51st state of the US? Because then then would only have 2 Senators.

I wont say that the Israeli Lobby Runs Hill, partly due to that taking away responsibility to American Imperialism and Neo-Cons. They certainly one of the strongest lobbies in the hills.
The fact is, the removal of Assad. Would benefit the west tremendously, it would weaken Iran considerable - due to also cutting off Lebanon. By removing Lebanon and Sisi in Egypt/no Moursi (Sisi closed off border with Palestine) and is a good ally for Israel. IT also covers Israel's flank.
