Analog will always give a difference in sound than a plugin! The best advice he gave was value your own experience. You will get to a point where you realize that you need/want certain pieces of gear or plugins to compliment your workflow.

Going to a analogue studio and hearing the difference between plugin and the real thing, software vs hardware, real instruments vs VST can be a horrible but enlightening experience. I wish I could go back blue pill. It's taken me on an expensive pursuit. Value your own preference than what people say about it. I fully agree. Find some outboard that not a lot of other people know because you know and I know and if they did know they would do so also but as they don't know, let them go and keep in on the down low. Lol

I've modeled my business in the new world of top notch plugins because 1) It exists and 2) The cost of entry is astronomically lower. My professors and mentors didn't really have that opportunity when they were young, I did, so this were I was able to capitalize.

Audio Gear is always like that. You can't really put a price on music.

A good analog preamp and compressor achieves something during the recording process that plugins can't quite emulate to my ear, especially how it deals with the peaks. An analog compressor keeps the audio signal from clipping while recording, so you can really push the preamp and compressor to get those rich harmonics without worrying about clipping

Though, if you buy great quality used gear, you can find some good equipment for a steal.

People discredit the tactile feel of something. The clunk a Pultec EQ knob has makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I don’t get that with a track pad

It’s not the same and the difference is night and day !! Now the Acustica Audio Nebula TimP and AlexB libraries are the best sounding plugins in the box !! I promise !! I was skeptical about them but I got rid of all my algorithmic (Analog ) plugins for Nebula libraries !

🧢 we all know that the hardware will always be better then a plugin. You can achieve the sound quality with certain plugins. But running it through an analog hardware will save you time vs adding a bunch of plugins.
