I've got the Oxford boss alarmed disc lock. I use with a chain through my back wheel. Then put the lock through the disc like you said. If you only have 1 lock ALWAYS put it through the rear disc as it's easy to cut the front disc with an angle grinder. I also use a xenon alarm disc on the front at the same time-they're about £30 as it's a lot louder (but not as strong) as the boss. If you're leaving it outside especially overnight also put a cover over it as it hides what security you have and thieves don't like them. Also check out the monimoto tracker which you fit yourself and there's no subscription apart from about £30 a year for the sim card.

I asked Bennetts about how locks & chains would effect my insurance & they said it wouldn't make any difference!

Pewag security chains work great. Can’t be cut with bolt cutters. They’re not really sold by motorcycle shops but they provide better security than most of the items you find in bike shops. Check out YouTube videos on it. Worth considering!

Cheers for your response,
I was thinking of getting one of two bike the cb1000r and the gsxs1000 both around the 2022 model, not sure about the gsxs1000 but it does not fit the cb1000r . Waiting to have it confirmed about gsxs. Cheers again

Money well spent. a bike cover works really well, if a thief sees a cover they might move on and if they raise it and see a lock they might still move on.

My tuono lives outside I've put a 16mm boss alarm disc lock a 16mm Oxford nemesis chain and padlock on the front wheel and a Oxford beast chain and lock through the rear wheel attached to two ground anchors under a bike cover .seems excessive but I saved up to buy my bike and it'd kill me if it got pinched so whatever I can put on it to slow them down I will.

Nice to see someone taking their security seriously you have very good locks but the smaller Oxford chain I wouldn’t trust, I personally have an ABUS 12mm hexagonal chain called the extreme plus 59 it’s as good as Oxford 16mm, Oxford chains are brittle and easy to break go for a abus chain and disc lock combo you won’t regret it.

Just ordered the Oxford Double Beast, a Kryptonite Keeper Chain and a cover. My back will probably ache for a few days but hopefully, I'll still have my bike. Great Video!

Excellent vid Ade. You should be on TV. You even add great humor to motorcycle locks.

When parking in London I use a chain the same size as the beast for portable use. It's the main reason I have a top box.

Great advice Ade, another company that sells really good security is Almax. I’ve probably got one of the best security devices living in a very sparsely populated area so anyone wanting to pinch the bike would have a long journey to find me. I do have a number of locks for times when I travel back to civilisation, always lock front and back if no posts so it can’t be lifted and wheeled. Of course I don’t have the exotic machines you have in your garage, love the MV👍

Good evening ⚠️ I am in the welding metallurgy and I grew up with grinders of all categories and my advice is to buy a disc lock according to the thickness of your disc, which means leaving no gap between the disc and the lock then it is best to close it in one of the deepest holes because with a grinder it is very easy to cut even stainless steel unless there is no space for the grinder disc to go between the two it will make the cut a bit difficult which means a few more minutes

2 up on a scooter ..one snaps the steering the other uses the battery powered dewalt grinder...doesn’t matter what lock you use they’ll be gone in 4 minutes ..2 mins for chain and 2 mins for disc lock you’re best to have
1: A alarm disc lock the Abus one front wheel
2: A chunky chain front wheel
3: And a chain 22mm plus tethered back wheel to anchor ..maybe pragmasis protector ..alimax or oxford beast
And a break lock front steering wheel cos they usually push the bike even without power and the best thing is a bike cover they can’t see your bike when they’re out there if it’s covered

Ive had two scooters nicked now. i like that beastlock and that alarm looks good do. Yes, they could likely prise it off or cut in seconds but it will still make a racket so might not even consider the trouble.

A proper grinder will take anything off given time so its actually about how long it would take. No thief wants to spend a minute with that noise and sparks flying.
