Nvidia Shield 2019 Emulation Test - Tube Version NON-PRO

In this video I test out the emulation performance on the New 2019 Nvidia Shield TV NONPRO VERSION it’s packed with the upgrade Tegra X1+ CPU and 2GB of Rambut is it any good at running retro games? Let's find out. I test out some of my favorite emulators such as PPSSPP for PSP, Redream for Dreamcast Mupen64 FZ for N64, Retroarch for Sega Saturn and even PS1.
Unfortunately, this version of the Shield is running a 32-bit version of android so you can not install 64-bit apps like the dolphin emulator.

Hey Prime, Big thanks for doing these videos. Really help me on my journey to emulation.

Is there a teardown of this new Tube Shield TV? Very interested to see what's inside it!

I resubscribed to your channel as YouTube had unsubscribed you for unknown reasons. Looking forward to get the new Nvidia Shield despite the disappointed in the 25x boost. It didn't even come with USB Type-C port, a game controller with USB Type-C and headphone jack, no hardly improvements on the RAM, storage space and etc. Good work, ETA Prime

I was worried the 2GB of RAM might be an issue since the older Shield had 3GB. Glad it's not. The 32 bit thing is a bummer though.

Awesome video as always.👍 A teardown video would be great. Also, would you be able to show Atomiswave and Naomi running on the Shield TV 2019, either version. Thanks again.

Really good video man. One thing tho i want to know is if the new shields can run ps2 games and old xbox games. That would be pretty awesome. And thanks again nice video!

Why would they limit it to 32-bit mode? That really hinders it. The previous Shield could run Dolphin this one CAN too but now it can’t because they ran 32bit Android?! That was SOOOO done on purpose to sell the bigger one. For sure.

I just want to mention that you can easily mount a NAS drive on any Shield and not bother with storage problems. As long as you have a NAS, of course.

Great vid! I wonder if it's possible to dump the OS from the shield tv pro and install it on this tube...

Thanks for another look at a product I was thinking about. After seeing this video I'm thinking I don't need to upgrade to this one.

Is launchbox Android going to update to be able to use standalone without having to load your info from PC version

32bit rom? What an absolutely duff move from Nvidia, installing a custom 64bit rom will be the best option for this.

Are there no AA/up-rendering options in the PS/Saturn emulators for Android? I noticed even the PSP titles looking smooth and pretty, but PS/Saturn 3D-rendering seemed like the same jaggy mess I remember playing back when the systems were new.

Sorry if this is a question with a well-known answer, I've done all my emulation on PC up until now (mostly PS2, PCSX2 at 1080p+AA and the right wide-screen patch makes the SMT/Persona games look just gorgeous).

How is the upscaler doing on older games when emulating? Do you turn it of on low resolution games like super Nintendo?

ouch, 32-bit only sounds like a deal breaker to me

a newbie on the android box field, I have a question:

is it simple to connect two bluetooth controllers or there's a one device limitation? also, can I connect a DS4 controller or only XONE are connected and synced with each button automatically like windows?
